Nasser Al Hameli: Keeping Up With The Changes In The Global Economy By Employing The Techniques Of The Fourth Industrial Revolution
His Excellency Nasser bin Thani Al Hameli, UAE Minister of Human Resource & Emiratization, has emphasized the importance of employing the techniques of the Fourth Industrial Revolution in keeping up with the changes in the global economy with the challenges affecting the jobs sector as a result of automation and the rise of modern technologies. His Excellency stressed the significance of acquiring the necessary skills and competencies required to face these risks, to maintain a balanced relationship between the workers and the employers, and to find innovative employment models.

This took place during the dialogue session that was held in cooperation with the International Labour Organization, titled “Innovative Employment Models in the Twenty First Century”, to keep up with the latest progress and developments in the jobs sector. The participants in the event included Ryan Roslansky, Senior Vice President of Product & User Experience at Linkedin, Ferid Belhaj, World Bank Director for the Middle East & North Africa, and Bernard Olalia, Director of the Ministry of Labor and Employment of the Republic of the Philippines, while Raghida Dergham from the Beirut Institute was leading the session.
A Balanced Relationship
Al Hameli emphasized the importance of regulating the relationship between government agencies, the private sector and individuals, and to stop and analyze each of these elements in detail and handle them properly. Furthermore, he stressed the importance of establishing a social security net based on security systems that are in line with future challenges in order to serve aspirations and meet global development opportunities.
Al Hameli called for unleashing the human imagination and to rely on innovation for achieving the desired development, especially in the shade of the wise and enlightened leadership of the UAE, which is keen on providing all forms of support and sponsorship to innovators and creators
For his part, Ryan Roslansky, Senior Vice President of Product & User Experience at Linkedin, has pointed out how governments should act to create a balanced relationship between the workers and the employers, stressing the need to shift away from speculation and to work quickly on implementing the change in order for everyone to understand the mechanism of market change in the future.
Additionally, he explained the importance of involving more women in artificial intelligence related jobs, pointing out that men occupy 90% of these jobs. Furthermore, he stressed the need to provide opportunities and to teach skills to all, and to unleash imagination and creativity.

Ferid Belhaj, World Bank Director for the Middle East & North Africa, stressed the need to nurture the imagination and unleash the ability to dream, pointing out the importance of finding new ways to compete and learn, by going through different mindsets.
He went on to explain that this is the ideal opportunity for change and to work on producing ideas and generating wealth by relying on new methods of learning, which is through providing real support and investing in it effectively.
Securing Jobs
As for Bernard Olalia, Director of the Ministry of Labor and Employment of the Republic of the Philippines; he spoke about the employment programs of the Republic of Philippines, their desire to secure jobs for their citizens, and their encouragement to citizens abroad to return to their country by working on regulating the relationship between the workers and the employers.
